Why a spoon straw

A scoop moulded into one end lets the customer sip and spoon from a single utensil. For slush, floats and anything with fruit or ice crystals at the bottom of the cup, it removes the second piece of cutlery from every serve — which is a real cost line once you are doing volume.

Which bore for slush?

• 8mm — the standard slush bore, and the standard bore for spoon straws.
• 10mm — jumbo, for slush with fruit pieces that would block a narrower straw.

Slush is thicker cold than it looks warm. If you are running a machine on a firm setting, size up rather than down.

Paper or plastic?

Paper straws are unrestricted and plastic-free. Plastic straws, including the spoon straw, go to exempt businesses only with an eligibility declaration at checkout.
